The digital display screens bring a variety of benefits:

  • Opportunity for local authorities to create a revenue stream through selling advertising space on the screens to local business
  • Where local authorities provide a commercial waste collection round a reduced advertising rate could be offered as a USP to secure or retain business
  • The screens can be offered on a rental basis ensuring that local authorities can preserve capital funds
  • Local authorities may be able to save on advertising expenditure by utilising the advertising space on the screens as opposed to using conventional methods such as leaflets, bus stop adverts, local magazines, etc
  • Each vehicle will pass approx. 1200 properties per day on a domestic household waste collection round as well as travel to disposal facilities reaching a wide audience
  • Environmental friendly if local authorities can reduce conventional advertising methods (print) this will support the journey to net zero. Further the screens would be sent of for recycling at the end of the life through an authorised WEEE treatment facility. In contrast many of the changeable graphic systems are not suitable for recycling
  • The digital display screens can play a wide variety of file types including images and videos/movies
  • Images can be uploaded to the digital display screens remotely in real time

The screens can be used to publicise a wide variety of messages including;

  • Zero tolerance towards abuse of employees
  • Service changes – this may be extremely beneficial with the new “Simpler Recycling” legislation and could include messaging around the introduction of food waste collection schemes
  • Publicise key performance indicators such as recycling rates and thank them for their participation
  • Publicise common myths surrounding recycling
  • Publicise national days – such as “Recycle Week 2024” “National Apprenticeship Week” etc
  • H&S messaging to include warnings to cyclists around blind spots of the vehicle, operatives working at rear of vehicle, or general messaging around speeding, using mobile phones whilst driving, etc
  • Local emergency messaging this could include disruption to services due to inclement weather, road closures, strikes, etc
  • Publicise day changes for waste collections due to bank holiday disruption.
  • National emergency messaging – the screens were fully utilised by all of our customers during Covid-19 where national messaging was displayed on the screens. This allowed the local authority to regularly update the imagery as and when the messaging changed from central government. Messaging such as ‘Stay at Home’, ‘Hands Face Space’, ‘Keep 2m apart’ were regularly communicated with their local residents.

The software used to upload the imagery onto the digital screens is exceptionally easy to use with images uploaded in less than 10 clicks and full training is provided. Parameters on the software include:

The duration that the advert is to run (i.e. 1st March – 31st March) which is important if you are selling space to third parties or are running season specific messaging such as Christmas or green waste campaigns

Days of the week that the advert is to run (i.e. everyday or just a Monday)

Time of the day that the advert is to run (this could just be between 13:00-14:00)

How long you want the advert to play on the screen (each advert is set to 10 seconds but if you had one advert that you wanted to have dominance you could have this running for 20 seconds or longer)
